Anderson University held spring commencement May 5. Degrees were awarded to 215 seniors.

The commencement address was delivered by Judge William Wilkins, an Anderson native.
Wilkins is the Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, which reviews decisions made by United States District Courts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.
Wilkins began his address to Anderson students with an anatomy lesson. He told them that as they went out into the world that they needed three bones, a funny bone, a backbone, and a wishbone.
The ceremony also included the awarding of the C.F. Reames Distinguished Teacher Award, which goes to an Anderson graduate who is making a difference in the field of education. Nancy Hanley, who teaches at Homewood Elementary School in Anderson, was honored for 2007.
A posthumous degree was awarded to the family of Mallory Jones, an Anderson senior who died in a boating accident during the fall semester.
