The Baptist Courier is looking for good stories, and the editor is asking readers to help with the search by providing leads.
Specifically, the Courier is seeking stories about people, said editor Don Kirkland.
“While we will continue to provide ample space for stories and photos about groundbreakings, mission trips, ordinations and many of the other special occasions that are threads in the tapestries of our churches’ lives,” said Kirkland, “we also want to tell more ‘people stories.’
“Just as Jesus used the parable – the simple, compelling human story – to reach his listeners, we want to tell the personal stories of South Carolina Baptists, regular folks, who are making a difference in their churches and communities.
“Behind every ministry, event or successful missions offering, there is usually a human story,” he said. “Or there may be a longtime Sunday school teacher who has touched a particular life in a profound way. We want to share such stories.”
To share an idea for a “people story,” e-mail Kirkland at don@baptistcourier.com, or write to him at The Baptist Courier, 100 Manly St., Greenville, S.C., 29601. Include daytime contact information for yourself and the person you are recommending, and tell us as much as you can about the person and why you think his or her story should be told.
