S.C. Singing Churchmen wrap up Gulf Coast mission tour

The Baptist Courier

The South Carolina Baptist Singing Churchmen recently returned from a seven-day Gulf Coast mission tour, which took place April 14-20.

The 32 members who made the trip presented 10 concerts in six days in North Augusta, S.C.; Atlanta, Ga.; Birmingham, Ala.; Gulfport, Miss.; Biloxi, Miss.; and New Orleans, La. Venues included six churches, a prison, a mall, New Orleans Baptist Seminary and Artillery Park in downtown New Orleans.

Because of the “generous giving” of South Carolina Baptists at SCBSC concerts during the past year, the following ministries will receive financial gifts and/or musical equipment from the Churchmen’s missions fund: Good News Prison Fellowship at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, Biloxi; Vieux Carre Baptist Church Homeless Shelter, French Quarter, New Orleans; Gulf Coast Baptist Association Hurricane Relief Fund, Gulfport; New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Chapel; and Operation NOAH Rebuild in New Orleans.

Singing Churchmen president Stuart Thompson expressed the group’s thanks to South Carolina Baptists.

The SCBSC is made up of active and retired South Carolina Baptist church music/worship ministers.
