‘Faster Pastor’ to be determined Aug. 25 at Laurens speedway

The Baptist Courier

Racing for the Cross Ministries will hold a second Faster Pastor race at the Laurens County Speedway at 8 p.m. on Aug. 25.

The dirt track race is open to all pastors and youth ministers. While there are no entry fees, all entries must be four-cylinder, regular street cars. Roll bars are not required, but may be used. Each pastor can have up to four pit crew members, all of whom are admitted free.

Tickets are $10 for members of churches of participating pastors. Churches receive $5 back for every ticket they sell, making the event also a possible fundraiser for missions work, said James Stevens, pastor of Welcome Baptist Church, Laurens, which sponsors Racing for the Cross Ministries.

Churches pre-sold 200 tickets for the last race, which featured eight pastors, and raised more than $1,000.

Stevens encourages churches to “spread the word and get more pastors on board” for RFTCM’s upcoming events. For registration forms and rules, contact Stevens at www.rtfcm.org.
