James “Jimmy” Norton Williams Jr., 73, who served churches in South Carolina and Virginia during 50 years of pastoral ministry, died Aug. 2, 2007, in Concord, Va.

Born in Marion County on Oct. 6, 1933, he was a graduate of North Greenville College (1955) and Furman University (1957).

In South Carolina, he served the following Baptist churches: Willow Creek, Florence; Collins Creek, Murrells Inlet; Killian, Columbia; and Northgate, Orangeburg. He also served churches in Virginia at Appomattox and Nelson County. He retired from full-time pastoral ministry in 2004, but continued to serve a small church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Crider Williams, a daughter and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter.
