Westminster Baptist Church, Beaverdam Association, sent a 17-member mission team to the Appalachian region of Eastern Kentucky July 30-Aug. 3. They traveled to the town of Hazel Green (population 350) to assist Lewis Faulkenberry, director of the Hazel Green Mission Center and mission pastor.

The team did some needed construction projects at the center and conducted three types of community outreach ministries, which culminated in a community party and a school supply giveaway to 50 children. Westminster senior pastor Randy Keasler and associate pastor Don Bickers coordinated the trip.

The Faulkenberrys are from South Carolina, Clemson University graduates, and are appointed as Mission Service Corps missionaries through the North American Mission Board. They have been on the mission field for more than two years, working through the Kentucky Baptist Convention and under the supervision of Jack Fletcher, director of missions for Red River Baptist Association.
