The Pastor’s Corner – by Danny Burnley

The Baptist Courier

As we all prepare for our Pastor’s Conference at Calvary Baptist Church in Florence on Nov. 12, I want to challenge you to begin making plans now to attend and to come expecting a blessing from the Lord.

Danny Burnley

Our first preacher will be 26-year-old evangelist, Braxton Hunter. I have never heard a greater preacher than this young man. Braxton is the evangelist and director of Trinity Crusades for Christ. While he was pastor of Cornerstone Church, McMinnville, Tenn., the congregation grew from an average attendance of 275 to 550 in two years, tripled its income and averaged 80 baptisms per year. Today, he is a gifted crusade evangelist, motivational speaker and apologist (defender of the faith).

First Timothy 4:12 states, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers – .” Let me encourage every pastor to have your “preacher boys” with you for this first sermon (10:00 a.m.) of our conference as Braxton addresses the subject, “The Pastor’s Privilege.”

Aubert Rose
Braxton Hunter

Our second preacher will be 81-year-old Aubert Rose from Benton, Ky. Rose was called to preach at age 22 and became a pastor at 24. In 1973, he moved to Atlanta, Ga., and served five years as associate pastor at First Baptist Church. In 1977, God thrust him into an itinerant church growth ministry called Church Growth Revivals. He has led more than 900 engagements in 29 states. Aubert Rose is my mentor.

It was through this man of God that I learned to have a heart for struggling churches, and it was through his wisdom that I gained a burden for the local church. Proverbs 13:20 tells us, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise – .” Aubert Rose is one of God’s wise men. He has helped me so much over the years. Don’t miss his message as he deals with the subject, “The Pastor’s Promises.”

In our afternoon session, we begin with Elliott Osowitt. Elliott is a Jew who committed himself to his Jewish Messiah, a journey that began with a Gideon Bible. In the months that followed, he felt God’s call to ministry and he attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute. Today he is pastor of a new church plant, Faith Fellowship and Harvest Ministries in West Jefferson, N.C. He will address “The Pastor’s Passion.”

During this session, and also our evening session, we will recognize the Gideons, who will be our special guests.

The next four preachers will be introduced in my next article. Pray!
