The churches of Aiken Baptist Association held a four-day Missions and Evangelism Conference Sept. 23-26 at Town Creek Baptist Church, Aiken.

About 500 people attended nightly, and 50-75 took part in the daytime training sessions, according to James McCary, pastor of Howlandville Baptist Church in Warrenville and team leader for the association’s evangelism team.
Conference partners included the South Carolina Baptist Convention, the South Carolina Baptist Evangelist Network and Aiken Baptist Association.
“It is our?hope that pastors and church staff members were encouraged and that our association was strengthened,” said McCary. We hope the people of God were motivated to do the work of missions and evangelism.”
“We also hope to see the lasting impact on our association and our area. One of the statements that God has chosen to use as a testimony to the world, found in John 17, is the unity of the people of God. As we become one, the world sees?the one true God in us and, by the grace of God, has an opportunity to believe in Him.”
Speakers included Debbie Turner, Ken Carter, Steve Cloud, Gary Hanna, Joe T. Youngblood, Frank R. Shivers, Dave Walton, John O’Cain, Bobby Keating, Ray Elder, Murrill and Deborah Boitnott, Scott Eadie, Christopher Wells, Jim and Lou Ellen O’Steen, Kelly Murphy, Marshall Fagg and Bobby Jackson.
