FRED STONE began duties as pastor of Wellford Baptist Church Oct. 1. For the past 11 years, he was pastor of First Baptist Church, Pickens. He is first vice president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and current chairman of the SCBC Nominations Committee and a former trustee of The Baptist Courier. Stone is a graduate of Clemson University, Southwestern Baptist and Reformed seminaries. He and his wife Lisa have two grown sons, David and Michael.

 

 

 

 

 

 

DOUGLAS THOMPSON has been called as minister of music by Abney Memorial Baptist Church, Greenwood. He was licensed in 1998 and ordained in 2006. A graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, he comes to Abney Memorial from Trinity Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Miss. Thompson and his wife Laura have two sons, Jackson and Dylan.

 

JASON MARTIN has been called as pastor by Bethune Baptist Church, Bethune. A graduate of the College of Charleston, he is currently enrolled in the master of divinity program at Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He and his wife Amanda have two sons, Silas and Thad.

 

PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY was held Sept. 16 at Elim Baptist Church, Effingham, in recognition of pastor Ken Moore’s 18th year as pastor at Elim and his 30th year in the ministry. The congregation presented Moore, an ardent historian, an antique piece from the Civil War era.
