The congregation of Trinity Way Baptist Church has moved into new facilities at 4113 Old Buncombe Road in Greenville. Dennis Holtzclaw is pastor. The communion table was given in memory of Bob Bagwell by Shelby Bagwell (pictured) and family.

 

 

On Sept. 16, First Baptist Church, Loris, gave plaques of recognition to Earl Spivey, Eloise Spivey, and Roy Morgan, who have taught Sunday school for a combined total of more than 140 years. The WMU of Seneca Baptist Church recently made 118 dresses for a project called “Hemmed in Prayer.” The dresses will go to children around the world to show God’s love.

 

 

Deacons Larry Wood and Jimmy Lockhart, and pastor Dale Welch of Southside Baptist Church, Chesnee, unload sanctuary lights donated to Salem Baptist Church in North. Welch said that he had been praying about what to do with the lights taken down during Southside’s renovation, and when he saw Salem’s ad in The Baptist Courier, he knew that his prayer had been answered. The men later enjoyed a meal prepared by members of Salem as a token of appreciation.

 

 

A group of 21 from Kelleytown Baptist Church, Hartsville, recently went to New Orleans, where they joined 14 other churches to paint houses and do yard work. Katherine Denham, art teacher and member of Taylors Grove Baptist Church, Lancaster, designed and painted “Noah’s Ark” on the walls of the church’s 4- and 5-year-old classroom.

 

 

Ally Baker, with Baptist Campus Ministries at Charleston Southern University, spoke at the Ministers Support Network meeting held at CSU Oct. 5. Baker told how God gave her a vision for a local needy community, and she and other students built relationships with the residents. Their ministry, Hungry!, has included a block party, a Thanksgiving meal, winter coat distribution, as well as other events. MSN includes 120 South Carolina pastors and funds a scholarship for a student called to ministry.

 

 

Old Fort Baptist Church, Summerville, recently celebrated its 41st homecoming. A brunch was held for 22 of the 30 charter members who still attend Old Fort. During homecoming Sunday services, a short video of their memories and encouragements to the current church members was shown to the congregation. A 24-member mission team from Dogwood Hill Baptist Church, Loris, went to Pippa Passes, Ky., July 14-21. They conducted Vacation Bible School at Caney School, did light construction, and led a group of youth in worship and praise each night. Approximately 125 children and youth attended, resulting in 24 professions of faith.

International missionary Amy K. (left) was guest speaker for a North Spartan Baptist Association tea held at Fairview Baptist Church, Greer. The approximately 140 women in attendance held a time of prayer for the women of the Muslim world. At right, Amy K. (center) is shown with Elaine Hall, North Spartan WMU director, and Ken Kirkley, DOM. Both worked with the missionary as volunteers last year.

 

 

 

Evergreen Baptist Church, Effingham, was recognized Oct. 14 for reaching the $1 million mark in Cooperative Program giving. A plaque was presented by Jim Austin, left, executive director-treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, to pastor Quinn Hooks. The church was also recognized by the International Mission Board for meeting the Cartersville Challenge in giving to the 2006 Lottie Moon offering. The church gave between $25 and $50 per capita, based on average Sunday morning worship attendance. Evergreen’s support was among the top 20 percent of all Southern Baptist churches. Austin also delivered the morning message, launching the church’s revival.

 

 

North Conway Baptist Church set an attendance record of 500 after members invited guests to its Family and Friends 500 Sunday on Sept. 30. Pastor Jeff Gaskins delivered a message titled, “Winning the Race of Life.” After the morning worship service, the church provided games for the children and a meal for everyone.

 

 

College Street Baptist Church, Walhalla, conducted a commissioning service for the Ricky Cook family on Oct. 7. Ricky and Niki Cook have finished their International Mission Board orientation and training, and departed for Lusaka, Zambia, Oct. 16, where they will serve as missionary guest house managers.
