True revival

The Baptist Courier

Regarding John Ward’s letter, “Don’t Limit God” (in the Sept. 20 issue of the Courier), I agree with him that we cannot limit the Holy Spirit. However, I do not find solid basis that a three-, five-, or 10-day service should be called a “revival.” They are just extra services that usually leave the church the same way as before.

The “fast food” mentality may be all right for McDonald’s, but it has never worked with the Lord. In essence, we order up a big church service and ask the Lord to “super size” it, and we call that a revival.

Revival begins with each individual earnestly seeking the Lord through prayer, study and actions. True revival is a byproduct of this, and it takes time. We cannot microwave God’s blessings. The only byproduct of the extra church meetings are usually a bunch of tired folks.
