Willis Edgar “Bill” Harris Sr., 85, of Anderson, a retired pastor of churches in South Carolina and Ohio, died Aug. 16, 2007.

Born Nov. 20, 1921, in Lavonia, Ga., he was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute. He served as pastor of Catfish Creek Baptist Church in Latta, Columbia Baptist Church in Honea Path, and Monte Vista Baptist Church in Mountain Rest. He also served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Ohio.

He also established two churches in Dillon – Dothan Baptist Church and Fellowship Baptist Church – as well as Blanchester Baptist Church in Ohio. He and his wife served as missionaries one summer at Oconee State Park.

Harris worked with Childs Vault Company for several years after retirement. He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church in Anderson. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife Louise Mishoe Harris, two children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
