“This is the soup eating season,” said Mae Goodgame in a recent note to The Baptist Courier, calling attention to the fact that it’s an ideal time of the year for collecting those Campbell’s labels to help churches purchase needed equipment – from vans and digital cameras to laptop computers and printers.
But in 2006, the requirements changed in a program that Campbell’s began some 30 years ago: The company no longer accepts the front panel labels from products on the approved list for earning points, but now requires the UPC codes and lids (depending on the product).
Goodgame, a member of First Baptist Church, Taylors, and chair of the Baptist Women group there, is a longtime collector of the labels for missions causes – and she doesn’t want any of the labels people send to her “to wind up in the garbage,” noting, “I’m still getting the fronts of the labels.” So, take note: UPCs and lids only.
