When Pickens-Twelve Mile Baptist Association conducted its Extreme Home Makeover in April, several of the projects were too big to handle in one weekend, even for the 230 volunteers who took part. For example, Lou Ellen Jones, shown here with director of missions Kirby Winstead, was getting water from a stream running through her yard. After 25 other projects were completed, Pickens-Twelve Mile Association was able to secure a new well and indoor plumbing for Jones, with special assistance from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, which she attends.

Twenty-one members from three churches in Waccamaw Baptist Association went on a mission trip in July to Belize, Central America. Sixteen team members were from Buck Creek Baptist Church, Longs, with pastor Larry Allen heading the team. Jamestown Baptist in Conway sent two people, and High Point Baptist in Conway sent three people. The group distributed food, clothing and medical supplies, and helped build two houses while in Belize for one week. They are planning another mission trip next year.

In preparation for its fall revival and homecoming, members of Nebo Baptist Church, Brittons Neck, met to “spruce things up.” They removed weeds from flower beds and applied fresh pine straw, trimmed hedges, raked leaves, and cleaned windows. “The Many Colors of Bulgaria” was the theme for this year’s children’s missions day camp sponsored by Waccamaw Baptist Association WMU. The camp was held at First Baptist Church, North Myrtle Beach. Bulgarian music, games, language, crafts and foods introduced the children to the country of Bulgaria, while missionary guests Roger and Janice Capps told of the colorful ways missionaries are sharing Christ there.
