
Margie and Ray Pratt, members of Sardis Baptist Church, Saluda, were recently recognized for their years of perfect attendance for Sunday school. She has had perfect attendance for 17 years, and he has had perfect attendance for 40 years.

Old Fort Baptist Church, Summerville, held a dedication service Nov. 11 for 465 shoeboxes collected for Operation Christmas Child. A combined children’s, student and adult choir performed special music. “The service was a wonderful connection to our kickoff for the International Missions and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This is our third year of helping Operation Christmas Child with shoeboxes, and each year we’ve seen an increase in the participation. This year is our best yet,” said Michelle Monahan, coordinator.


As a part of the Acts 1:8 challenge, Bethel Baptist Church, Olanta, completed a “Jerusalem Project,” which consisted of ministering to a needy family. More than 35 church members worked two weekends doing major home repairs, repainting the home, and renovating the yard.

Cavins Baptist Church, Woodruff, held Baby Dedication Day Oct. 7 for John Miles Bowling, the son of Erin Bowling and Dylan Nielson. With them is pastor Charles Foster, center.

Betty Jordan recently received a perfect attendance pin from West Greenville Baptist Church, Greenville. She has not missed a Sunday school class in 16 years.

Twelve members from five South Carolina Baptist churches – Davidson Street Baptist, Laurens Association; Zion Hill Baptist, Spartanburg County Network; Friendship Baptist, Charleston Association; First Mt. Moriah Baptist, Lakelands Association; and Burnsview Baptist, Greer Association – recently participated in a mission trip to Burkina Faso. The purpose of the trip was to build relationships with the Teifo people group and to seek the possibility of forming a partnership, which is underway. Additional trips are planned to disciple, evangelize, teach, and build relationships among the Teifo people group while continuing the partnership.

This Children in Action group from Nebo Baptist Church, Brittons Neck, posed for pictures after a lesson on missionaries to Haiti. During the lesson, they learned how poor a lot of the people were. The children were given small amounts of cooked, plain rice and were amazed to learn that it may be the only food some of the people would have for the day. An authentic Haitian cake was also prepared by the teacher, Nyla Richardson.
