Mike Turner

MIKE TURNER began duties Jan. 1 as senior pastor of Lexington Baptist Church, Lexington. His previous pastorates include Heights Baptist Church, Aiken; Fort Johnson Baptist Church, Charleston; Island Mission Baptist Church, Charleston; and most recently, First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, N.C. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and Southern Baptist Seminary. Turner and his wife Pam, who is the daughter of Jack Ellenburg, a retired Southern Baptist minister in South Carolina, have two children, Kate and Will.

 

 

 

 

 

 

RALPH MEDLOCK JR. has been called as interim pastor by Beaverdam Baptist Church, Kershaw Baptist Association. He is retired from the North American Mission Board. He and his wife Loraine have served several churches in the association.

 

 

Gary Hanna

GARY HANNA is serving as pastor of Redds Branch Baptist Church, Aiken. From Walterboro, he is a graduate of North Greenville University and Covington Seminary, where he is pursuing a doctorate. Hanna and his wife Debra have two children, Joshua and Adrienne.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Amy Stertz

AMY STERTZ will begin duties Jan. 27 as associate minister in Christian education by First Baptist Church, Aiken. She is a graduate of Mars Hill College and Campbell University Divinity School. She has served since 2002 as minister of Christian education at Azalea Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va.

 

 

 

 

 

 

CRAIG SANDERS was licensed to the ministry Dec. 9 by Park Hills Baptist Church, Gaffney. Sanders, a senior at Gaffney High School, recently applied to the North American Mission Board to serve next summer before entering college. His father, Larry Sanders, is pastor of Park Hills.

 

 

KEVIN CARTER has been called as pastor by West End Baptist Church, Newberry. A native of Newberry, he is a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute. Former pastorates include First Damascus Baptist Church,Greenwood, and Camp Creek Baptist Church, Union Mills, N.C. Carter and his wife Kimberly have seven children: Erin, Sumpter, Caroline, Andrew, Sarah, and twins Nathanael and Daniel.

 

 

George Holcombe

GEORGE HOLCOMBE JR. began his ministry at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Edgefield Association, in July. Originally from Greenville, he and his wife Dina and their six children live in Martinez, Ga. He is a chaplain with Regency Hospice in Augusta and previously was pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Augusta.
