Thompson Creek Baptist Church recently dedicated a prayer room that it furnished for the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home Adams campus in Chesterfield.

In a conversation with Thompson Creek pastor Ronnie Grizzle, the home’s director, Vernelle Swinton, expressed his desire for an old office to be transformed into a “sanctuary of prayer” for the children and staff.
Grizzle shared Swinton’s idea with the members of the church, and with financial support, donation of time and hard work, this dream became a reality.
“God has given us a great opportunity to meet a need here, and we, as a part of the body of Christ, have taken that opportunity and made a dream a reality,” said Grizzle during the Jan. 27 dedication. “What we have here is not just a prayer room, but it is a gateway of communication with God. These children have been given a safe place where they can come and be alone with the Lord. They have a place where they can come together and be in the presence of Christ.”
The pastor challenged the children to pray and talk to God because “he will be there for you when no one else can.”
He challenged the Connie Maxwell staff to use the prayer room, because each has unique problems, while together they face the same challenges each day in the responsibility to care for the children.
The pastor then challenged the members of Thompson Creek to pray daily for the children and staff, and that God would use the prayer room to touch hearts and change lives.
“This prayer room can be the starting point for seeds to grow – seeds of salvation, seeds of faith, seeds of belief, and seeds of prayer,” Grizzle declared.
