On ‘slippery slope’ to pantheism?

The Baptist Courier

First, we should be excellent stewards of the environment.

Second, do we really accept the premise that cutting down a tree (destroy the creation) is equivalent to “tearing a page out of the Bible”?

If so, we are on a slippery slope to pantheism, or worse. Natural creation is not the equivalent of “special revelation.” The historic orthodox posture on God’s revelation is that the “natural revelation” (creation) was insufficient to deliver men from their bondage to sin. Thus, there is no basis for equivalence as clearly implied in the statement by Merritt and signed by others.
