A new Wingate by Wyndham hotel adjacent to Charleston Southern University is now open for business. The new 97-room hotel opened June 1.

In addition to the 97 rooms and nine suites, the hotel features the latest in-room technology, with 2000 square feet of meeting space to accommodate up to 200 people and three meeting rooms.
The Wingate by Wyndham hotel operates in accordance with Christian values represented by the university. The hotel inside is smoke-free, does not serve alcohol, and blocks all adult-oriented movies.
The presence of the hotel is already being felt among business and corporate clientele. “We immediately began attracting business groups when we opened,” said Bruce Britton, general manager of the Wingate. “Our location to the campus with access to the university’s dining hall, sporting events, music and theater productions, makes for a great location,” he said.
“The hotel offers great facilities for Christian seminars, conferences and workshops in the Charleston area,” said Skip Owens, director of denominational relations at Charleston Southern. “We are so pleased that the Wingate is here,” he said.
