Roderick Carver, 78, of Ware Shoals, a pastor who served in several states before resettling in his native South Carolina, died June 29, 2008.
Born July 2, 1929, in Greenville, he graduated from Parker High School and studied at Biola College and Seminary in California. He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1951.
He served as pastor of churches in Florida, Louisiana, California and Georgia before returning to South Carolina, where he retired from Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Ware Shoals in 2005.
As his father before him, he was a plumber and pipe fitter by trade and was a long-standing member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 582 (Santa Ana, Calif.).
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jimmie Rose Haynes Carver, three children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
