Anderson University is establishing a faith and learning book collection within its new Thrift Library. The initiative will add approximately 500 volumes to the library collection, providing faculty and students access to foundational and contemporary resources to support the university’s goal of nurturing students’ development of a Christian worldview.
“Christian education involves more than providing education within a Christian environment, as important as that is,” said Anderson president Evans Whitaker. “It also involves providing an intentional context in which students are invited to integrate the Christian faith into the study of general education as well as the disciplines,” he said.
The integration of faith and learning is a prominent initiative within Anderson’s 10-year strategic Vision 2014 plan to increase enrollment, initiate graduate programs, enrich the undergraduate learning experience, continuously create value within the institution, emphasize the integration of faith and learning, uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ, and be known as a leading Christian university in the South.
“As a South Carolina Baptist institution, Anderson University is committed to encouraging our campus to love God with our minds. Thus we want faculty, staff, and students to have all the tools they need to continue to learn how to think as Christians in contemporary society,” Whitaker emphasized.
