Handyman Ministries needs van donation

The Baptist Courier

Cherokee Falls Community Project Outreach Handyman Ministries began in the first week of September 1995 to help people with small home repairs and wheelchair ramps, also to open doors as a witness for Jesus Christ.

The ministry gets requests from DSS, home care nurses, hospice program and a few other aid programs, and is supported by free-will offerings.

Since the beginning, we have been blessed to help more than 345 people with more than $51,000 in donations to the ministry, plus a 1976 Ford van and an estimated $5,000 in shop equipment.

The ministry is made up of men from several of the local churches in the community of Cherokee Falls and the city of Blacksburg.

On Monday, Sept. 21, the transmission in the van went bad and we are in need of another van. We need a 3/4-ton extended van in order to haul lumber and tools.

If you have a van you can donate or if you know where we can find one, please call me at (864) 839-3139. It certainly would be appreciated.

(Editor’s note: Chester Harvey is a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church in Blacksburg where Tim Knotts is pastor.)
