Don Matthews has been called as the South Carolina Baptist Convention revitalization director. Matthews, who is from Midlothian, Va., began his duties Oct. 1.
Don MatthewsMatthews most recently served as a church enrichment missionary for the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia. In this position, Matthews worked to provide church strategic planning, training in evangelism strategies, leadership development and mentoring, among other responsibilities.
Matthews also led the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia in establishing a disaster relief ministry.
Previous church experience includes service in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Arkansas.
The revitalization position was added to the SCBC in a recent staff reorganization. The office will serve as a catalyst for churches seeking assistance in revitalization.
Matthews and his wife Mary Ann have two children, David Matthews and Susan Shorter.
