Wingate celebrates grand opening

The new Wingate by Wyndham hotel, located at the entrance to Charleston Southern University, held its grand opening ceremonies with a ribbon cutting Oct. 10.

“We are delighted to operate and manage the new Charleston Southern Wingate by Wyndham hotel,” said Bert Pooser, president of IMIC Hotels, a development and management company headquartered in Columbia. In addition to the 97 rooms and nine suites, the hotel features the latest in-room technology, with 2000 square feet of meeting space to accommodate up to 200 people.

“The hotel offers great facilities for Christian seminars, conferences and workshops in the Charleston area,” said Skip Owens, director of denominational relations at CSU.

“We are excited about the opening of the Wingate Inn that will provide student intern learning opportunities, student scholarships and other university priorities,” said CSU president Jairy Hunter.
