In their fall meeting Oct. 17, Anderson University trustees approved four new degree programs to expand educational opportunities at the institution. Two of the programs – a master of ministry, and a master of arts in teaching – are in the graduate school. The other two new degrees are being offered as part of the university’s ACCEL evening degree program.

“The master of arts in teaching (elementary education) and the master of ministry will offer individuals possessing college degrees opportunities to enhance their professional qualifications and experience,” according to Anderson University provost Danny Parker. “Earning the MAT will enable students to enter the public school system in South Carolina as certified teachers possessing a graduate degree. The master of ministry degree program will equip students to work in various ministry situations or to engage in further graduate study in a seminary or graduate school.”

The bachelor of human services degree program will have two options – one as degree completion for those possessing an associate’s degree, and the other for those without an associate’s degree. The program provides for a concentration in behavioral science and four certificate programs, and is designed to educate students in theory and applications related to the fields of human/social services in preparation for graduate course work or careers in fields related to social services and other helping professions.

“The bachelor of liberal studies will offer adults opportunities to earn bachelor’s degrees for personal growth or for general career purposes,” said Parker. “This program will provide a flexible but academically rigorous path by which adult students may achieve an undergraduate degree.”
