Seneca’s Rudy Gray elected president of South Carolina Baptist Convention

Rudy Gray, pastor of Utica Baptist Church, Seneca, was elected president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention Wednesday morning at the denomination’s annual meeting in Columbia.

Gray received 203 of 396 votes cast. David Little, director of missions for Lakelands Baptist Association, received 193 votes.

Gray was nominated by Don Wilton, pastor of First Baptist Church, Spartanburg. Little was nominated by Bryant Sims, pastor of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Greenwood.

Terry Corder (Mount Pisgah Baptist, Jefferson) was elected first vice president by acclamation. Also elected by acclamation were Lynda Hopkins (First Baptist, Hilton Head Island), recording secretary; and Dusty Bradshaw (Hillcrest Baptist, North Charleston), registration secretary.

Terry Pleasant (Calvary Baptist, Gaffney), was elected second vice president with 214 votes. Also running was Dale McCoig (Glenwood Baptist, Easley), who received 191 votes.
