White named to SWBTS faculty

Anderson University graduate Thomas White has been elected by the board of trustees to the position of associate professor of systematic theology at Southwestern Baptist Seminary.

White, who considers Honea Path his hometown, will continue to serve as vice president for student services and communications at the school. He earned M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Southeastern Baptist Seminary.

Formerly, he was director of leadership development and director of student life at Southwestern. His father, Jerry White, formerly was pastor of Riverside Baptist Church, Greer, and Chiquola Baptist Church, Honea Path. He also served as president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the South Carolina Baptist Pastor’s Conference. His grandfather, Claude White, formerly was pastor of Casey Creek Baptist Church, Chesnee.

White and his wife, Joy, are parents of a daughter, Rachel.
