Richard PorterRICHARD PORTER, pastor of Branchville Baptist Church, Orangeburg-Calhoun Baptist Association, for the last 12 years, retired Dec. 31. Porter was a pastor for more than 33 years. He was elected first vice president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention in 2005 and has served on denominational boards and committees. He will continue to reside in Branchville.

Brandon, who is an assistant wrestling coach at Broome High School, Spartanburg, is attending Fruitland Bible Institute. Jennifer is a nursing assistant at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
ROBERT SCOTT PETERSON, pastor of Providence Baptist Church, Gaffney, received a doctor of ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary on Dec. 12. Peterson’s name was inadvertently left off a seminary news release that ran in the Courier on Jan. 8.

LANE ALLEN was ordained to the ministry by Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Kershaw Baptist Association. He is the son of the late Clarence Allen, former pastor of Mt. Pisgah.
