Twenty-six North Greenville University students recently traveled to Nashville to attend the National Religious Broadcasters convention.

The event provided the students with workshops and education on various media techniques. Speakers for the week shared their practical experience and guidance with the students, who are preparing for careers in mass communications.
Brad Cole, a senior from Gainesville, Ga., attended NRB for a second straight year. Last year he produced a five-minute film in three days. His hard work paid off when his film won an award.
This year the NGU students received nine awards altogether. Cole won first place in the TV studio production category. Kevin McCreary of Campobello brought home four awards for various radio productions. Mike Oostdyk, of Montvale, Va., won second place with a television promo.
Linwood Hagin, mass communications department head, is a member of the NRB Intercollegiate Committee. He has assisted other institutions and committees in planning for NRB for the past several years, and students from NGU have been attending the convention since 2000.
“Students are able to network with professionals in the Christian media,” Hagin said. “Some of our students have obtained their post-NGU employment directly through a contact from NRB,” he said.
