The Baptist Courier

Reedy Creek Baptist Church, Marion, held a Valentine senior adult celebration Feb. 10. James Allen and Martha Dozier were selected as the Valentine king and queen.

The youth group from First Baptist Church, Blackstock, recently went on a weekend retreat and ski trip to Sugar Mountain, N.C. They enjoyed fellowship and heard a sermon by youth pastor Will McBrayer.

Each year, members of Second Baptist Church, Kingstree, help pastor John Hudson, who is also an FAA authorized inspector, to complete the annual inspection on missionary aircraft. The aircraft belongs to Wings of Hope Children’s Ministry in Saltillo, Mexico. Pictured from left are Josh Tomlinson, Second Baptist; Bob Huffman, Grace Aviation; Jim Stockdale, Wings of Hope; pastor John Hudson, Second Baptist; and Allen Smith, a pastor in Kingstree. Pastor Hudson started Grace Aviation in 1996 to be an outreach to missionary aviators and then transformed it into New Day Ministries International in 2008. Also in the picture are bags of coats for children in the high Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.

An old-fashioned pounding was held March 8 to welcome Daniel Walker, second from right, as minister of youth at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, Marion. Pictured are some of the youth who helped welcome Walker.

The Women on Mission of First Baptist Church, Gaston, celebrated their heritage Feb. 21 with a brunch. Women from ages 20 to 94 were among the 32 who attended. The theme was “Women of Faith – Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.” The younger women desired to honor those who had impacted their lives for the cause of missions. Through testimonials and a game of trivia, the focus was on WMU and its transformation over the years, and how the purpose of missions awareness and the message of Christ were still the same.
