Edwin R. Quattlebaum

Edwin R. Quattlebaum, 80, of Laurens, a retired pastor and director of missions, died June 4, 2009, at Hospice House of Laurens County.

Ed Quattlebaum

Born in Charlotte, he served churches in Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina, including First Baptist Church in Hemingway, Northside Baptist Church in Sumter, Springdale Baptist Church in West Columbia, and Bethabara Baptist Church in Cross Hill. He was interim pastor at First Baptist Church of Enoree. He was the former director of missions for Welsh Neck Baptist Association in Hartsville, where he was one of the original founders of Raceway Ministries. He most recently was a member of First Baptist Church of Laurens.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sexton Quattlebaum, two children, six stepchildren, 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Wiggs Quattlebaum, and by a son.
