North Augusta pastor publishes new book

The Baptist Courier

North Augusta pastor and author Gene Jennings likes to describe the Christian life as a journey. Like most journeys, following Christ is full of ups and downs. His latest book, “Laughing with Sarah,” helps fellow believers be all that God wants them to be on their adventure with God.

“Sometimes we face impossibilities like Sarah in the book of Genesis,” Jennings explained. “When God announced that the 90-year-old woman would have a child, Sarah laughed at the thought. Of course, God had the last laugh when Sarah gave birth to Isaac, whose name means ‘to laugh.’?”

“Laughing with Sarah” is a book about being obedient to God and deepening one’s walk with Christ. It’s about putting things off, starting things over, being perpetually grateful to God and being constantly motivated to serve him.

“We go through mountaintop experiences and deep valleys in our spiritual lives,” Jennings said. “But, the truth is, most of the time we are somewhere in between the mountaintops and the valleys. ‘Laughing with Sarah’ is about those times and how we need to live as we travel with Jesus Christ.”

The book is also designed for use in small group Bible studies. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter help facilitate spiritual growth and challenge the reader to apply biblical principles in everyday life.

Jennings has been a pastor since 1987, having served churches in Texas, Georgia and South Carolina. He and his wife Beth are former church planters with the North American Mission Board. He is the associate pastor at TrueNorth Church, North Augusta.

Jennings announced the release of “Laughing with Sarah” in late April. It is available online at www.LaughingWithSarah.com and will be available soon on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and other online book retailers as well as traditional bookstores.
