Cooperative Program down 2.57%; off ’09 budget by 2.4%

Year-to-date contributions through the Southern Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program are 2.57 percent below the same time frame last year and 2.40 percent off budget for 2009. As of June 30, the year-to-date total of $150,583,883 for Cooperative Program missions is $3,972,657 below the $154,556,541 received at the end of June 2008.

Designated giving of $172,484,933 for the same year-to-date period is 7.52 percent, or $14,018,698, below gifts of $186,503,632 received at this point last year. Monthly CP receipts totaled $15,971,146, while designated gifts received last month amounted to $20,287,145.

For the first eight months of the fiscal year, the SBC Cooperative Program allocation budget year-to-date total of $150,583,883 is 97.60 percent (or 2.40 percent off) of the $154,287,625 budgeted to support Southern Baptist ministries globally and across North America. The SBC operates on an Oct. 1-Sept. 30 fiscal year. The 2008-09 allocation budget was based on CP receipts given in fiscal year 2006-07.
