Taylors First Baptist Church will host a speaking event Aug. 27 sponsored by a South Carolina public policy organization affiliated with Focus on the Family.

Del Tackett, creator and teacher of “The Truth Project,” a Christian worldview curriculum published by Focus on the Family, will speak in a ticketed event at the church, according to a news release from Palmetto Family Council, based in Columbia.

“Today’s culture demands a well-reasoned, intellectual approach to faith and family,” said Oran Smith, president of Palmetto Family Council. “Dr. Tackett’s work through The Truth Project presents this approach in a compelling and engaging manner. Our hope is that – he will motivate Christians across the Upstate to engage our culture in a more effective way for Christ.”

Tackett will also speak at an executive luncheon at the Poinsett Club in Greenville earlier in the day. Both events require preregistration by visiting truthproject-sc.com or calling (803) 733-5600.

Palmetto Family Council was founded in 1994 as a non-profit, faith-based educational foundation committed to “defending and strengthening South Carolina families,” according to a statement at the organization’s Web site.

Advisers to the group include Frank Page, pastor of Taylors First Baptist Church and past president of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Joe Mack, director of the office of public policy issues of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, who serves on the organization’s board.
