Georges Creek Baptist Church in Easley is celebrating 150 years of ministry.

The church is in the midst of five days of events commemorating its sesquicentennial. The theme is “Honoring the Past – Celebrating the Present – Embracing the Future.”
Former pastors Kenneth Newton (19th pastor), Jimmy Hogsed (20th), Martin Atkins (21st), and Wayne Wiggins (22nd) are preaching at evening services during the week.
Special music will be provided for each service. On Aug. 21, the church cornerstone will also be opened, coinciding with the actual date the church began 150 years ago.
The celebration will conclude Aug. 23, when pastor Travis Bowers will preach the Sunday morning service at 10:30. There will be a service in the early afternoon following lunch in the family life center, with more music and a message by Mike Collins.
