Louise King Crumpler, 80, of Greer, wife of retired pastor Earl Crumpler, died July 26, 2009.

Her funeral was held July 29 at Mackey Mortuary in Greenville, officiated by ministers H.S. Yarborough of Ashley River Baptist Church, Charleston, and Jimmie Harley of Taylors First Baptist Church.

A native of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., she held the position of assistant to the pastor at First Baptist Church there and taught Sunday school and sang in the choirs of churches where her husband was pastor, including North Trenholm in Columbia and Edwards Road in Greenville. In retirement, she was active in the ministries of South Main in Greenwood; Berea First in Greenville; and Ashley River in Charleston. She also taught English as a second language to Korean, Vietnamese and Spanish-speaking friends.

Her husband is a former president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and former board chairman of The Baptist Courier. Other survivors include a son and two grandsons.
