YouTube video sparks North Greenville University choir reunion

A YouTube video celebrating the 80th birthday of Betty Smith Campbell inspired a reunion of choir members from North Greenville University’s days as a two-year college. Beulah Webb Pope, class of 1962, saw the video and called Campbell, who along with her husband Bracey, led the music department and the choir at North Greenville from 1959-65. The event was held July 23-25 at the Madren Center in Clemson. Though her husband is now deceased, Campbell, at 82, is a tenured professor at Judson College in Alabama and teaches a full schedule. One participant in the reunion said, “The most exciting thing the Campbells gave us was the joy of beautiful choral singing. It is an amazing experience to be part of a group that creates a glorious sound.” Campbell described the years that she and her husband spent at North Greenville as “the happiest time in their lives.” Pictured below is Campbell holding a poster signed by all attending the reunion.
