GENE STOKES has been called as pastor of Providence Baptist Church, Kershaw. He previously served at Calvary Baptist Church in Sumter. Stokes began his duties at Providence on Sept. 6.
James Thompson IIIJAMES W. “J” THOMPSON III, pastor of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Blythewood, earned a doctor of ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Fort Worth, on May 8. A native of Bennettsville who has served churches in South Carolina for 30 years, Thompson previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in divinity from Southwestern. The congregation at Cedar Creek, where he has served for seven years, honored him with a congratulatory dinner on June 28. Thompson and his wife Donna have two grown children and one grandchild.
ODELL MOSELEY began duties Aug. 9 as pastor of Southside Baptist Church, Greer. He previously served at several South Carolina Baptist churches, including Buck Creek, Chesnee; Walnut Hill, Campobello; Mitford, Chester Association; and Roddey, York Association. Moseley and his wife Barbara have two daughters, Lisa and April.
