North Greenville University has been named to “America’s Best Colleges in 2009,” according to Forbes magazine and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity. NGU ranked 154th out of 600 schools, third-best in South Carolina behind Wofford College and Converse College.
CCAP gathered data from a variety of sources: 4 million student evaluations of courses and instructors, postgraduate success as determined by enrollment-adjusted entries in “Who’s Who in America” as well as average salaries of graduates, amount of student debt after four years, four-year graduation rates, and the number of students or faculty who have won awards such as Rhodes Scholarships or Nobel Prizes.
“I haven’t put much credence in these types of college rankings in the past because I feel North Greenville University is number one in all categories,” said NGU president Jimmy Epting. “However, this ranking has merit because Forbes used the evaluations of students rather than that of college administrators to formulate their listings.
“We are committed to providing a quality higher education in a biblically sound, Christ-centered environment, and this shows by way of student satisfaction. Our students believe that NGU is Christian higher education at its best,” said Epting.
