Daryl Price is the new director of the church multiplication group of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. He began his work Aug. 3.

Price will lead in the development of a strategy to see a New Testament church established among every people group in every community in the state. He will work closely with associations and churches to enlist church-starting leadership and equip partnering churches in their work.

“We need new church planters and members of these new congregations to know they are welcome in our family,” Price said. “I hope that coaching systems, church planting, and multiplying church networks will provide healthy church planters who embrace and champion the Cooperative Program cause. I believe South Carolina can lead the way for Southern Baptists.”

One strategy Price plans to introduce is called Operation Observation – or “O2” – and involves working alongside associations and “all kinds of churches to reach all kinds of people.” The plan includes new churches started in multi-housing communities, benevolent centers, in rural and fast-growing suburbs as well as inner-city centers and college campuses.

“Daryl has been a proven leader in church planting in Texas and Georgia,” said Wayne Terry, associate executive-director of the multiplication team. Terry said Price grew up and most recently lived in Augusta, Ga., “so he also has a rich knowledge of South Carolina.”

Price served as a North American Mission Board-appointed church-starting strategist for the Georgia Baptist Convention for the last seven years.

He said his “personal mission” is to “help churches see the need and experience the joy of birthing new churches.” He asked that South Carolina Baptists pray for him and for the churches that will be planted across the state.

Price holds a business administration degree from Augusta College and a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He and his wife Kim have a 15-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter.
