October is Parson’s Pantry Month

October is being called Parson’s Pantry Month, as that Gaffney-based ministry observes its primary annual time of fund raising.

Parson’s Pantry – whose aim is to help needy pastors, retired pastors, widows of pastors and married ministerial students – will hold a harvest celebration service Oct. 24 at East Gaffney Baptist Church.

A barbecue meal priced at $10 per person is set for 5 p.m., followed by singing at 6:30. A door prize will be given for the winning ticket and a love offering for Parson’s Pantry will be taken during the music program.

Ron and Karen Jackson, who lead the Parson’s Pantry ministry, hope to receive more than $49,000 in contributions by the end of this year. Since it was organized, the ministry has been able to provide more than $122,000 in assistance to 189 families.

“Words cannot express how thankful we are for the blessing we received from you,” a student at New Orleans Baptist Seminary wrote. “I am in my last semester at seminary. Your gift allowed me to register for my classes.”

A widow from Simpsonville said, “Thank you for remembering me. I am living alone and my medical expenses have been so much, and this gift will be a great help.”
