Sims will be nominated by Reiny Koschel, director of missions for Laurens Baptist Association, at the Nov. 9 gathering of the Pastor’s Conference, to be held at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo.

“I consider it an honor to be nominated to have a chance to represent younger pastors,” said Sims, “but also it is an honor to serve older pastors who have paved the way for us through their years of faithfulness.

“The younger pastors just need the opportunity to be able to serve. My hope is that when we put together the program for next year, we are able to meet the needs of the younger and the older pastors. When we try to separate those two groups, we lose. What we need to do is build unity between both groups – both younger and older pastors in our state – uniting again around the common purpose for which we have been called.

“My vision is to continue to encourage all of our pastors to be faithful to the calling that we have received and keep a fresh vision of the purpose to which we have been called.”

Sims is co-vice president of the 2009 Pastor’s Conference and is a past treasurer.

He is an alumnus of North Greenville University and has pastored three churches in South Carolina. He also is a Christian humorist who speaks at churches throughout the state.
