Hanf called as new DOM in Kershaw Association

The Baptist Courier

Jimmy Hanf, pastor of St. George Baptist Church in Orangeburg, received a unanimous call as director of missions for Kershaw Baptist Association at the association’s Oct. 27 meeting.

Hanf will begin his duties as director on Nov. 30. He succeeds Bill Drees, the association’s missions director for 10 years before becoming pastor of First Baptist Church in West Columbia on March 1.

Hanf is originally from Elgin and received his ministry training from Charleston Southern University and Southeastern Baptist Seminary.

The new missions director has roots in Kershaw County, where he formerly was a member of Blaney Baptist Church in Elgin. Since 1981, he has served churches in both Carolinas, including Williston First Baptist, Philippi Baptist in Johnston, and Center Grove Baptist in Kershaw. He and his family have served St. George Baptist for the past eight and half years.

He and his wife Jeanette have a son, Jay, who attends USC.

Currently, 51 churches are a part of Kershaw Baptist Association, which was organized in 1900 and has its offices in Camden.
