I am a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church in Gaffney and have been for the past 70 years.
Over the years, our church has been recognized as having one of the best music programs in Broad River Baptist Association, the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention, especially under the leadership of the late Rev. C.O. Hayes.
On Oct. 22, our church was privileged to host the South Carolina Baptist Singing Churchmen in concert. Several hundred people were in attendance. I can say without fear of contradiction that not a single person went away disappointed in what they saw and heard. I would highly recommend that if this group ever comes to your church or to a neighboring church that you make every effort to attend.
Dr. Clyde Thomas is the pastor at Cherokee Avenue and Rev. Mark Abbott is the minister of music. Rev. Abbott is also a member of the Singing Churchmen.
