Bangladeshi women share their stories about receiving Jesus as their Savior

The Baptist Courier

? My husband is a schoolteacher. One day I (Taroob*) was fighting with my husband. I was so angry. One evangelist, Salik*, came to visit and he asked, “Why are you so upset?” He said, “Read this book, and you will find peace.” When I read the Kitab (the Bible), the holy book, I found peace. I found truth and life. He (Salik) said, “What you found, tell others,” and I tell other ladies. I have been talking with ladies and sharing from the book, and after three months, I baptized them. Thirty ladies received Christ (with the help of Salik). Now I am so happy. I am sharing Christ with other ladies and doing his work. I shared with my husband slowly, slowly, and he received Christ also.

Bangladeshi women practice telling Bible stories orally – stories they learned from South Carolina volunteers – so they can be ready to share the stories with their lost family, neighbors and friends.

? Taroob witnessed to me. I didn’t believe it at that time. I said, “I don’t want to listen.” One day I saw the “JESUS” film, and I saw Jesus is good. I received Jesus Christ, and Taroob baptized me. When I came to this meeting, I learned more about Jesus Christ.

? Taroob told me about Jesus, about how he takes our sin away. I have six children. My husband drives a horse cart. I am doing very good after receiving Christ. I have joy and peace. I am working hard. I am doing tailoring in my home.

? Taroob is my sister. I was married five years. After that, I came back to my mother’s house with two sons. My husband had another wife. Taroob and Salik witnessed to me. After I received Christ, I prayed, “Isa (Jesus), I want my husband to come back to me.” After five years, he came back to me with his wife. He received Christ – and the other wife also received Christ.

? My husband was so weak. He could not do anything. We had no income. My brother-in-law said, “Separate!” Me and my baby, we separated. I went to Nazara*, and Nazara said, “My husband was sick like that.” I listened to Nazara, and I believed in Jesus. My husband is good. Praise the Lord.

? There is one evangelist named Raatib.* My husband was very bad (wicked). One day Raatib told him about Jesus. When he shared about Jesus, my husband changed a lot. He received Christ. My husband talked to me, and I received Christ. My husband is now a good man. The whole family received Christ.

? My husband is Raatib. I got married at about 12 years old. We received Christ 15 years ago. My brother-in-law was a thief. People caught him and beat him. One day he said, “I am not going to do those things. I’m going to find a job.” Somebody told him to go to the city, because there were Isahi (followers of Jesus) there. After he was baptized, he got a job. When my brother-in-law left, we were very poor. My father-in-law kicked us out of the house. My husband went to the city and received Christ. He gave me a Bible. He shared with me. A lot of our (Muslim) neighbors beat us.

? I am Raatib’s daughter-in-law. We have a love marriage. My family doesn’t know about Isa (Jesus). I am looking. I am listening, watching ? “Who is Isa?” I love Isa. I am praying. You pray for me. (After hearing the Bible stories at the training, she accepted Jesus as her Savior.)

? I am 75 and have delivered 13 children. I married at 12. I am in good health because of God. My husband is 80. He delivers biscuits and bread by bicycle. I work sewing saris. My husband is crazy about Jesus. One year ago, I heard (about Jesus) from Jadida*; my husband heard from others. One daughter, the youngest one who is divorced, follows Jesus.
