Jerry Lee Ables, 62, of Bossier City, La., died Nov. 15, 2009, after a nearly yearlong battle with brain cancer.
Ables formerly served as music minister at Geer Memorial Baptist Church in Easley, First Baptist Church in Ware Shoals, and First Baptist Church North Spartanburg. He was on staff at First Baptist, Bossier, for 25 years.
He attended Anderson College and Mars Hill College. Over the past few years, his ministry included serving as the leader of his church’s Celebrate Recovery program, a ministry to people with hurts, habits and hangups. He dreamed of one day building a halfway house for people in recovery.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ables, two children and three grandchildren.
