Lottie Moon memories

The Baptist Courier

Each year as we approach the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, I fondly recall friends, some of whom are now with the Lord, who made this missions offering special to me:

Earline Smith (no relation), who would save money from the sale of aluminum cans all year and then present it to our church on a Sunday in December; a pastor friend who challenged everyone to give $100, or some other amount, to the offering during a Sunday morning worship service; Tennett Acton, who said she would stand on her head if the church reached our goal. Once the goal was reached, she walked the aisle and stood on a picture of herself!

Thank God for Christians who had a desire to see churches meet and exceed these goals. I’m thankful for these Lottie Moon memories and pray that I, too, can encourage others to help mobilize our missionaries for the kingdom’s work.
