Donald C. Tumblin, 73, of Simpsonville, a retired pastor and family therapy counselor, died Dec. 24, 2009.

Born Oct. 10, 1936, in Orangeburg, Tumblin was a Korean War veteran of the S.C. Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy, and participated in the Indochina evacuation.

He was an alumnus of Southeastern Seminary and Erskine College, where he earned a doctor of ministry degree. He served as pastor of Chockoyotte Baptist Church, Princeton Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pickens, Harmony Baptist Church, Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, and retired from Faith and Concord United Methodist churches in Greer.

He served as counselor and director of the Greenville County Detoxification Center, family therapy counselor of Brierwood Hospital for Addictive Diseases, and chaplain and therapist at LifePlus Recovery Center.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Scoggins Tumblin, three children and two grandchildren.
