After five years of planning, building and hard work, members of Cane Branch Baptist Church, Loris, recently dedicated a Christian life center. Pastor Jon Johnson and some of the children and youth are shown cutting the ribbon to the gymnasium/activity area of the building.

Chesterfield Baptist Church recently completed a Bible study entitled “From Cover to Cover,” by pastor Lee Coyle. Pictured below are several members of the group who participated in the year-and-a-half “walk through the Bible.”

South Hartsville Baptist Church honored Eula Howell Stokes with a surprise 90th birthday celebration Nov. 29. The congregation presented her with a bouquet of yellow roses, with dinner on the grounds following the service. Stokes has taught Sunday school for more than 60 years, and has been a member of South Hartsville Baptist for more than 50 years. She has also been active in volunteer service, including Meals on Wheels, and currently volunteers two days a week with the Auxilliary at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville.

The youth at Union Baptist Church, Marion, held a barbecue plate fundraiser on Dec. 12 to raise money for youth activities and for a food kitchen begun by Keith Herring of Mullins First Baptist Church. Every Thursday morning, Herring and his team feed more than 200 shut-ins and others in need. The youth and children of Evergreen Baptist Church, Effingham, performed the Christmas play “The Best Christmas Gift Ever” on Dec. 13 during the evening service.

First Baptist Church, Camden, sponsored “A Night in Bethlehem” at Wateree Villas in Camden on Dec. 20 as part of its weekly multihousing ministry there. The event included a live nativity featuring children from Camden First Baptist. In addition, five “marketplaces” were set up, with bread makers and vine makers, as well as carpentry, ornament painting, and a potter’s wheel and clay for the children to mold. Also, gifts were given to the children who attended. Paulette Munn, Natalie Jeffcoat and Robert Munn are leaders of this ministry at Camden First Baptist.

The youth and children of Northside Baptist Church, Woodruff, set up a “missions mailbox” to raise money for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Members brought their Christmas cards to the church along with a donation of 10 cents per card, and the children delivered the Christmas cards. On Dec. 20, they presented a check to the church for $183.10.

Northside Baptist Church, Woodruff, held a baptismal service for 15 new members on Dec. 13, which pastor Carroll Waddell attributes to four recent prayer walks, saying that “the work is paying off – praise the Lord!”

A group of youth and chaperones from Ebenezer Welcome Baptist Church, Landrum, attended the Big God Conference in Myrtle Beach Dec. 30-Jan. 2. Led by Timmy Tyner, minister of students at Ebenezer Welcome, the group enjoyed a message by keynote speaker Ken Freeman, as well as musical performances by Building 429 and Big Daddy Weave.

The children at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church, Enoree – led by children’s director Gina Nelson and Julie Cannon – recently presented the musical “Miracle on Main Street.” Stephen Cannon is pastor of Cedar Shoals.
