Scholarships for South Carolina Baptist college and seminary students pursuing a church-related vocation are available through the state convention’s collegiate ministry group.
Active resident members of a South Carolina Baptist church enrolled in a South Carolina college or university or a Southern Baptist seminary are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
An application must be made each year for consideration. Southern Baptist missionary dependents whose parents list South Carolina as their home state are also eligible to receive the scholarship.
All scholarships are based on financial need, and funds are sent directly to the institution to be applied for tuition, room, board and academic fees. The funds are provided through the Cooperative Program and the Richard Furman Scholarship Fund.
College scholarships are awarded to full-time students who have made a public commitment to a church-related vocation, are active resident members of a South Carolina Southern Baptist church for at least nine months prior to the beginning of the academic year, and who agree to participate in a ministry-related experience each week.
Richard Furman Scholarships for seminary students are awarded to South Carolinians who have been endorsed by a South Carolina Baptist Convention church and are enrolled in one of the six Southern Baptist seminaries: Golden Gate, Midwestern, New Orleans, Southeastern, Southern, or Southwestern.
Applications may be completed online at www.scbcrvs.org. Deadline for submitting applications online is March 15.
